busiest room in the house

I don't know about you but with the weather this hot and humid, I'm spending more time in the bathroom. Three showers a day makes me a happy camper.

So now can you understand why I say the bathroom is a pretty important room in the house. I mean, it's the only room that the occupants fight over, right? And when we go to a hotel, the bathroom is the first place I check out. Gotta love those luxurious bathroom suites where I can soak for hours without being disturbed!

Which reminds me of the one with a big jacuzzi overlooking the open ocean which totally had me fascinated ever since. And this hotel was right in the middle of the city too, can you imagine that? I could sit here and dream about it all day.

In our busy city lives, we hardly have the time nor the luxury of lingering in the bathroom. It's always rush, rush, rush! One kid in, one kid out on school days. Shower and run! It's perpetually the busiest room in the house and although I hate cleaning it, it still is, without a doubt, my most favorite room in the entire house.

the goldsmith shop

Back in the old days, I used to follow the elders to the goldsmith shop to buy gold whenever there was a wedding coming up. Gosh, did I love looking at those shiny trinkets and mentally picking out the ones I would buy if I had money.

I guess that's what all bored kids do when they have to tag along with the adults who sometimes dally for hours at the goldsmith shop, undecided over what to buy and then haggling prices afterwards. Ha! These days, I don't think many kids have even been into a goldsmith shop. It's not safe to wear gold but if you're thinking of investing in it, then it's obviously a good choice.

convenient lunches

What do you cook on a hot day like this? Luckily I have leftover pizza and KFC in the fridge. Yes, all unhealthy food but nevertheless a lunch I don't have to slave over. How's that for convenience? We don't do it too often, just that I've been crazy busy this week so I don't have time to cook.

unlikely baker

I had breakfast with a girl friend this morning who is really into baking. Quite the unlikely baker, if you ask me. For most of her working life, she's never been seen in the kitchen, let alone produce anything edible in it. That's what she tells me. But now that she's left her job, she spends most afternoons baking up cookies and muffins, some of which she sells, some for charity.

golden keepsakes

I went to the bank today and overhead someone talking about buying bullion. It's interesting to note that this person wanted to put some away as keepsakes for his future generation. Frankly I would never have thought of that but I have to agree it's a jolly good idea.

Sometimes people leave totally impractical stuff to their children and grandchildren, and they have to find some way to dispose of it later. But with gold, it's always a great investment. Definitely worth putting away a few pennies every day to save up for something that will be a guaranteed-to-be valuable keepsake.
