hot and cold

I don't know about you but this hot and cold weather is driving me nuts! I'm sneezing like I live in a pepper pot because of the temperature changes! I try to hide in the bathroom which is by far the coolest room in the house. And I've lost my appetite. How do you even eat in this kind of weather?

Chinese New Year, if you can stand it, is a time for the old folks to sit there and dish out well-meaning advice to us younger and apparently ignorant folks. Why don't you buy gold bullion to stash under your bed while you're still young? And I'm like, great, I'll definitely have to get a bigger bed now that I'm going to use the bottom for storage space.

No, but seriously folks, while gold makes a very wise investment from what I hear, those of us with school-going kids barely have enough to go on a holiday, let alone save gold bars under our beds. I think we have to be practical here. But if it rains money tonight, I promise I'll run out first thing tomorrow morning and fill up the bottom of my bed with gold.

I'll just be me

I don't think many of my posts sit too well with some folks (you know who I mean). I'm either too upfront or sarcastic about stuff and they either don't understand it or take it the wrong way. Oh well, you can't please everyone. So I'll just be me :)

So my washing machine has given up the ghost with about a week to CNY. Great timing! I'm not sure if I should buy a new one now. Do stores charge more for appliances just before a festival? Should I wait till after CNY which would then mean going manual for the next two weeks?

wedding season again!

Oh no, my stack of wedding invitations is starting to build up. I guess like any other year, this year's Valentine's Day is set to be the most popular day for weddings. It's also the first day of Chinese New Year. Talk about doubly cool!!

The second daughter of a cousin on my in-laws' side of the family will be getting married. I'm not sure where they're going yet but I heard they've opted for one of those destination weddings!

I've read about the weddings on the white sandy beaches of the Riviera Maya with music playing, palms swaying and a table for two waiting, and if that's where they're headed, I'm truly green with envy LOL.
