nice posts, awful food

We went out to dinner at one of those seafood restaurants. Not my favorite, not my choice. I don't eat live seafood so it's quite pointless going to a seafood place where hordes of fish murderers are streaming in, ready to send the poor creatures to their deaths.

I guess I'm insulting half the town again with this post. I have a knack for doing that but heck, if I can't say what I want on my own blog, what good is having a blog? I'm not one of those who write nice posts just to please their audience. After a while, nice posts become really stale and artificial, just like the person who writes them, bwahaha.

Anyhow the food at that very popular seafood restaurant sux. We didn't have a reservation so they made us sit outside in the freaking hot, non-air-con section! We were right there as the weekend herd was streaming in non-stop and if you notice, some people are so rude they like to stare at what you're eating. I'll bet they're wondering why there's no seafood dishes on our table!!

no-brainer parenting

As a parent myself, I find it really hard to understand how other parents think. I was at the mall yesterday, had to go there though I'd rather not, because my kids have a class there. As I was walking around, I heard coughing coming from all directions.

Finally at the grocery store, the ultimate happened. As I was picking out some tomatoes, I heard someone sneezing and then the sound of nose-blowing. I turned around and there was a mother holding a piece of tissue to her teenaged (possibly handicapped) son's nose and he was blowing furiously into it!! Eww!!

A few aisles down, at the frozen section, I saw a woman sneezing openly into the freezer!!! Wonderful! There was no shortage of babies in prams and kids running about either. Which leads me to wonder why parents never think of leaving their kids at home in times like these when the full-blown flu pandemic is on?

And then of course, my father tells me Kaa and Ursula have taken their two kids on holiday overseas! Ursula is an ah soh who blindly follows what everyone else does and they just want to brag about how rich they are to be able to afford a holiday overseas. Sure, why not, when air tickets are cheaper than free these days?!!!!

given up

I don't remember speaking to my father as being so unpleasant. It never used to be but then again, our relationship isn't what it used to be. I'm always on his side and he's always on Kaa's and Ursula's side. Why does he refuse to see that all his son and DIL are after is - his house? His house, bought with his hard-earned money over donkey years, the only thing he has to his name.

They've been plotting from the very start. They even told me once when I was still on talking terms with them and they'd asked me along when they wanted to go look for a house to buy. I was shocked and horrified and gave him the heads up. He did nothing. He didn't even thank me. Gratitude is not what I'm after. I care about him. I don't want him to lose his house!! Come to think about it, if he doesn't care, why should I care?

I'd rather be bloggin'

I wasted the whole of yesterday doing mundane backups after my sites came back up, thanks to the generosity of my web host who really didn't have any reason to pull my sites in the first place. So go talk to the hand!

I wasted the whole of today doing a massive clean-up of my sites. That's probably one of the most exciting things about being a blogger *rolls eyes*! You get to sit there, eyeballs glued to the screen, doing something so totally unproductive...

... when your precious time could be much better spent blogging about how your sister-in-law (name of Ursula) left her cute li'l Pinscher out in the sun and baked it to death, or how she opened up your father's will (while he's out having coffee with his old cronies) and plotted to steal his house from right under his nose.

I mean, there's so much excitement going on out there to blog about... and to think I was stuck watching the little counter on my screen dance to how many files I've transferred over to my backup drive. Duh!

I be back! *in Arnold's voice*

up, up, down!

Had a great week last week, had an even better Saturday night, then woke up this morning to find my web host has decided to hang up my sites to dry. Apparently web traffic shot through the roof last night and brought everything to a grinding halt. I don't know whether to laugh or to cry. Is that supposed to be good or bad? Huh, I just know I'm frickin' pissed!!

when mama is a big chicken!

Okay, I finally got the new theme up. Like it? Yah, me too ;) .

So here's the thing, right, what I really don't understand is why some mothers are asking if they should keep their kids at home because of HiNi. I mean they list all these horror stories they've read and heard, and seeing as how bad the situation is now, is there even a question?

The thing about being a parent is you have to make decisions in the best interest of your kids. Yes, your kids! Not anyone else's. Sometimes there are easy decisions and for the harder ones, you just have to use your head. I think you owe that to your kids. They can't decide, they're looking to you to protect them and ensure they stay healthy and alive, and that means you just have to bite the bullet and make some brave decisions for their welfare.

That herd mentality has seriously got to go, people! So what if everyone else is sending their kids to school, sick and all? It's what you think is best for your kids! Doesn't matter what anyone else says. I just love it when this mother of a 7-year-old asks if she should continue sending her kid to school. She's really worried about her kid catching the flu but the school has a circular out saying school will go on. And she's asking what should she tell the school if she keeps her kid at home?

The kid is only 7, for crying out loud. So what if she misses school? Would she rather her kid be sick or dead? What to tell the school? How about the truth? Or is she too afraid to speak up? Or afraid that other mothers will say she's straying from the herd? Gosh, I really don't get it!

the new theme will have to wait

I tried giving this blog a new look again. Yes, I actually found another theme I like, uploaded it and set about trying to get it in sync with what I have here. Well, I'm not sure what happened but it didn't look right either.

And of course, I didn't have time to fix it, which I'm sure I would've if I'd just sat down and really looked at what's wrong. Anyhow this theme isn't quite bad. Seeing as how I tried and failed twice, I guess I could live with it for a while longer till I can bring myself to look at themes again LOL.
